Connect Cloudinary

Cloudinary is an image and video platform that stores, transforms, and delivers media. The Cloudinary integration imports each product environment's daily credit usage into Cloud Intelligence™ so you can analyze media spend in Cloud Analytics by usage category, such as transformations, bandwidth, and storage.

Prerequisites

  • A Cloudinary account with access to the product environment's API keys. Each product environment (cloud name) is connected separately.

  • A DoiT account with the Billing Profiles Admin permission.

Required credentials

FieldDescriptionWhere to find it
Cloud nameThe product environment's cloud nameCloudinary Console > Dashboard
Price per credit (USD)Optional. Your contracted price per creditYour Cloudinary order form or invoice
API key and secretThe API key and API secret, combined as api_key:api_secretCloudinary Console > Settings > API Keys
Admin API access

DoiT reads usage through Cloudinary's Admin API, which accepts the product environment's API key and secret. The key also grants access to the product environment's media, so create a dedicated key for DoiT and revoke it if you disconnect.

Create an API key

  1. Sign in to the Cloudinary Console and select the product environment.

  2. Navigate to Settings > API Keys.

  3. Select Generate New API Key and name it, for example doit-cloud-intelligence.

  4. Copy the API Key and the API Secret, and combine them as api_key:api_secret.

Connect your product environment

  1. Sign in to Cloud Intelligence, select Data ingestion and integrations > Integrations from the top navigation mega menu.

  2. Search for Cloudinary in the integrations catalog.

  3. Select Connect + on the integration card.

  4. Enter the Cloud name, optionally the Price per credit (USD), and paste the API key and secret.

  5. Select Test connection to verify DoiT can read your Cloudinary usage.

  6. If the test is successful, select Save to complete the setup.

If the test fails or you need further assistance, please open an expert inquiry.

注意

Upon initial connection, DoiT imports the last three months of Cloudinary usage, the full history Cloudinary's API keeps. The import process can take a few hours. You'll receive an email when the data is available in Cloud Analytics.

How credits become cost

Cloudinary meters transformations, bandwidth, storage, impressions, and video seconds in credits drawn from your plan's monthly allowance. Its API reports credits, not dollars, so DoiT prices them as follows:

  • If you enter a Price per credit, every credit is priced at that rate.

  • Otherwise, credits on a self-service plan are priced at the plan's published rate: the plan's monthly price divided by its included credits. For example, the Plus plan at $99 for 225 credits prices each credit at $0.44.

  • Enterprise and legacy plans have no public price, so their credits appear as usage with zero cost until you enter a price per credit.

How a day's credits are calculated depends on the plan, and the Usage window label shows which rule applies:

  • Pay-as-you-go and Enterprise plans accumulate credits over the billing cycle. Each day shows the credits added that day. Storage counts at its current level, so a day on which you delete media shows negative storage credits. The cycle's total matches Cloudinary's usage page.

  • Free, Plus, and Advanced plans report a rolling 30-day total. Each day shows one thirtieth of that total, so a month of days adds up to the rolling total. Storage shows the stored amount's credits divided by the days in the month.

注意

Subscription fees, overage charges, and add-on invoices are not exposed by Cloudinary's usage API and are therefore not included.

Data refresh

DoiT refreshes your Cloudinary usage daily. Cloudinary publishes each day's usage once the day has closed, so the latest data is from yesterday.

Reporting dimensions

Once connected, Cloudinary data maps to the following standard Cloud Analytics dimensions:

Cloud Analytics dimensionCloudinary valueExample
ProviderCloudinaryCloudinary
Billing AccountCloud namemy-cloud
Project/Account IDCloud namemy-cloud
ServiceUsage categoryTransformations, Bandwidth, Storage, Impressions, Video seconds delivered
SKUUsage categoryTransformations

In addition to standard dimensions, the following Cloudinary-specific labels are available:

LabelDescription
PlanThe plan Cloudinary reports for the product environment, for example Plus or Pro PAYG
Usage unitThe unit of the native usage metric: transformations, bytes, impressions, or seconds
Pricing sourceWhere the credit price came from: connection (the price you entered), plan (the published plan price), or unpriced
Usage windowHow the plan accumulates usage: billing_cycle or rolling_30d

Usage amounts are measured in credits. The native quantity for each category, such as the number of transformations or bytes delivered, is available as the cloudinary.usage.quantity metric.

Delete your Cloudinary connection

  1. Sign in to Cloud Intelligence, select Data ingestion and integrations > Integrations from the top navigation mega menu.

  2. Search for Cloudinary in the integrations catalog.

  3. Select Manage on the integration card.

  4. Select the kebab menu (⋮) at the rightmost end of the product environment you want to remove and select Delete.

  5. Select Delete to confirm.
