Connect Aiven
Aiven is a managed data platform offering PostgreSQL, MySQL, Apache Kafka, OpenSearch, ClickHouse, Valkey, and other open-source services across multiple clouds. The Aiven integration imports your billing data into Cloud Intelligence so you can analyze Aiven spending in Cloud Analytics.
Prerequisites
-
An Aiven organization with access to create application users.
-
A DoiT account with the Billing Profiles Admin permission.
Required credentials
| Field | Description | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Organization ID | Your Aiven organization ID (e.g. org57fde903633) | Aiven console > Admin > Organization overview |
| API Token | Token for an application user scoped to the View billing (organization:billing:read) permission | Aiven console > Admin > Application users |
The token must belong to an application user created at the organization level. A project-level token cannot see billing data, and a token that can only list billing groups is not enough — it must be able to read invoices. Verify the token has View billing before connecting.
Create an application user and token
-
Sign in to the Aiven console.
-
Navigate to Admin > Application users.
-
Select Create application user, enter a name, and select Create application user.
-
Select the application user, then in the Authentication tokens section, select Generate token.
-
Copy the token.
CautionThe token is only shown once. Make sure to copy it before closing the dialog.
-
Navigate to Admin > Permissions, select Grant permissions > Grant to users, and select the application user.
-
Under Resource, choose the organization, then select the View billing permission and select Grant permissions.
Connect your Aiven organization
-
Sign in to Cloud Intelligence, select Data ingestion and integrations > Integrations from the top navigation mega menu.
-
Search for Aiven in the integrations catalog.
-
Select Connect + on the integration card.
-
Enter your Organization ID and API Token.
-
Select Test connection to verify DoiT can access your Aiven billing data.
-
If the test is successful, select Link self-service account to complete the setup.
If the test fails or you need further assistance, please open an expert inquiry.
Upon initial connection, DoiT imports up to 180 days of historical billing data. The import process can take a few hours. You'll receive an email when the data is available in Cloud Analytics.
Data refresh
DoiT refreshes your Aiven billing data every six hours. Data typically becomes available within 48 hours of being generated by Aiven. Costs are imported in the currency of your Aiven invoice.
Reporting dimensions
Once connected, Aiven data maps to the following standard Cloud Analytics dimensions:
| Cloud Analytics dimension | Aiven value | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Provider | Aiven | Aiven |
| Billing Account | Organization ID | org57fde903633 |
| Project/Account ID | Aiven project | my-project |
| Service | Product name | PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, OpenSearch, Valkey, Networking |
| SKU | Service plan | startup-4 |
| Resource ID | Aiven service name | pg-prod-eu |
| Region | Region parsed from Aiven's cloud identifier | us-central1 |
Aiven bills Private Service Connect endpoints, AWS PrivateLink endpoints, and static IP addresses as line items with no service or plan of their own. DoiT groups these under a single Networking service, with the SKU naming the specific product (Google Private Service Connect service, AWS PrivateLink service endpoint, Static IP address) and the endpoint or IP address as the Resource ID.
Aiven invoice lines do not currently carry labels. If you tag a project in Aiven with a billing:-prefixed tag, it appears here as an aiven/<tag-name> label. Tags on individual services are not included in Aiven's invoice lines and do not appear here — this is a limitation of Aiven's billing API, not DoiT's ingestion.
Delete your Aiven connection
-
Sign in to Cloud Intelligence, select Data ingestion and integrations > Integrations from the top navigation mega menu.
-
Search for Aiven in the integrations catalog.
-
Select Manage on the integration card.
-
Select the kebab menu (⋮) at the rightmost end of the organization you want to remove and select Delete.
-
Select Delete to confirm.
