New-device sign-in notifications

DoiT Cloud Intelligence monitors your sign-in activity and notifies you by email when a sign-in is detected from a browser or device you haven't used before. This helps you identify potentially unauthorized access to your account.

New-device detection​

Each time you sign in to the DoiT console, DoiT Cloud Intelligence checks whether the browser has been used to sign in to your account before. If the browser is recognized, no action is taken. If the browser is not recognized, DoiT Cloud Intelligence records it as a known device and sends you an email notification.

New-device detection works across the following sign-in methods:

DoiT Cloud Intelligence identifies devices using a secure cookie stored in your browser. If you clear your browser cookies or use a private/incognito window, the device is treated as new and you receive a notification on your next sign-in.

Notification details​

When a new device is detected, the notification email includes the following information:

  • Sign-in time: The date and time of the sign-in. The time uses your local time zone when available; otherwise it uses UTC.

  • Device: The browser and operating system used to sign in (for example, Chrome on Windows).

  • Approximate location: The approximate geographic location of the sign-in, when available. If location data is unavailable, this field is omitted from the notification.

  • IP address: The IP address of the device that signed in, when available.

If you don't recognize a sign-in​

If you receive a new-device notification that you don't recognize, take the following steps to secure your account:

  1. Change your password immediately. See DoiT password policy for requirements.

  2. If you haven't already, enable multi-factor authentication.

  3. Contact your organization's administrator to review recent account activity.

Limitations​

  • Device recognition relies on browser cookies. Clearing cookies, switching browsers, or using private browsing causes DoiT Cloud Intelligence to treat the device as new.

  • Sign-ins through API clients, desktop applications, or other interfaces that don't load the DoiT console are not monitored for new-device detection.
