Manage connections

Once you have created your connections, you can edit them, share access with other DoiT users, transfer ownership, or disable them. How you edit a connection depends on whether you created it from existing permissions or with the connection wizard.

Note

When you select Connections in the sidebar, the connections you manage here are shared across every workspace in your organization. They are not exclusive to your currently selected workspace.

Edit connections that use existing permissions

Connections created with Create connection from existing permissions reuse access from AWS accounts or Google Cloud resources already connected to DoiT. In the connections list, they show the subtitle Using existing permissions.

Cloud permissions (what the connection can do in AWS or Google Cloud) are separate from connection access (which DoiT users can use the connection in CloudFlow). The table below shows where to manage each.

Edit connections created with the wizard

When you edit a connection created with the AWS or GCP wizard, you change the same settings you defined at creation time: scope, cloud permissions, deployment, and user access. You only need to edit the settings you want to change.

You must be cautious when editing the permissions assigned to a published flow. If you remove any required permissions, the flow will fail during its next run. Always verify that all necessary permissions remain intact before saving changes to an active connection.

Note

You can only edit a connection if your DoiT account has the Connection Owner or Connection Editor access level for the connection.

  1. Sign in to the DoiT console, select Automation and operations from the top navigation mega menu, and then select CloudFlow.

  2. In the CloudFlow sidebar, select Connections.

  3. From the left hand pane, select AWS or GCP, as necessary.

  4. Select the kebab menu () at the rightmost end of the connection you want to edit and select Edit.

  5. Go back to the step-by-step wizard to amend, add, or delete the configurations.

  6. Select Done. Once your changes are saved, all flows that use this connection will begin using the new configuration.

Share connection access

To share a connection with other DoiT users in your organization, assign them a connection access level (Editor or User). This applies to connections created from existing permissions and to connections created with the wizard.

  1. Sign in to the DoiT console, select Automation and operations from the top navigation mega menu, and then select CloudFlow.

  2. In the CloudFlow sidebar, select Connections.

  3. Select the kebab menu () at the rightmost end of the connection you want to share and select Manage permissions. The Edit permissions window is displayed.

  4. You can either:

    • add a new user. In Add people, enter or select the email address of the users for which you want to share this connection. In Access, give them either Editor or User access.

    • edit an existing user. Next to the email address you want to edit, give them either Editor or User access, or remove the access.

  5. Once you have finished making your changes, select Save to close the Edit Permissions window. The recipient will receive an invitation email with the relevant information.

Transfer connection ownership

To transfer ownership of a connection to another user, select Make owner.

Be aware of the following rules when transferring ownership:

  • A connection can have only one owner and the owner must be an individual user.

  • Ownership can be transferred only to a user who already has the Editor access level.

  • Once the ownership is transferred, the previous owner becomes an Editor of the connection.

Disable connections

If you disable a connection, you will no longer be able to use it in any flows.

  • If the connection is being used in a draft flow, it will be removed.

  • If the connection is being used in a published flow, the flow will be unpublished.

  1. Sign in to the DoiT console, select Automation and operations from the top navigation mega menu, and then select CloudFlow.

  2. In the CloudFlow sidebar, select Connections.

  3. Select the kebab menu () at the rightmost end of the connection you want to edit and select Disable.

  4. Select Disable.
