Using the AI assistant
The AI assistant has expert knowledge of cloud services, specializing in Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. As an expert on the console, the AI assistant helps you gain new insights into your cloud spend, discover more about the cloud, and optimize data across both your cloud environment and the console.
To ensure a reliable experience for all users, the AI assistant limits the number of questions you can send within a short time window. Questions sent through other the AI assistant-powered features, such as CloudFlow, also count toward this limit. If you reach this limit, the AI assistant displays a message asking you to wait a moment. Select Ask again to retry your question after a brief pause.
Overview
The AI assistant is designed to provide continuous assistance across the platform.
-
Continuous availability: When you sign in to the DoiT console, the AI assistant is automatically launched and remains persisted on the right-hand side, regardless of the feature you are using.
-
Chat Persistence: Your current chat history is maintained and remains visible as you switch between features, ensuring a continuous conversation.
-
Contextualized insights: You can generate contextualized and granular insights for specific accounts or projects without exposing data from your entire organization. See Grant the AI assistant access to your AWS accounts and Grant the AI assistant access to your GCP projects.
-
Slack: If you use the DoiT app for Slack, you can chat with the AI assistant directly in Slack without opening the console.
Display size
The AI assistant's display automatically adjusts its size to provide optimal space for viewing the data and reports generated in response to your questions, maximizing the area available for continuing your work in the console.
-
Screen width limit: If your screen width is less than 1400 pixels, the AI assistant closes automatically to maximize your working space.
-
Full-Screen: If you reopen the AI assistant while your screen width remains 1400 pixels or less, the AI assistant automatically opens in full screen mode.
You can manually launch full screen mode by selecting the full screen icon (
). Once in full screen, you can select the close chat history icon () to maximize the space available for asking questions.
You can resize the AI assistant's window or close the AI assistant completely, as necessary. To reopen the AI assistant, select the AI assistant icon (
) from the top navigation bar or bottom right-hand corner.Ask questions
The AI assistant's answers may be inaccurate and should be verified.
-
Sign in to the DoiT console.
-
Type a question in the text field and press Enter, or choose one of the proposed questions.
While the AI assistant processes your question, a thinking timeline appears in the chat. The timeline shows a step-by-step list of the tools and data sources being used, alongside inline commentary explainining what the AI assistant has found so far.
-
Once the AI assistant finishes generating its response, the timeline collapses into a Thought header. Select the header to expand it and review the full list of steps and commentary from that response.
The thinking timeline is saved with your conversation history. When you revisit a past conversation, you can expand Thought on any previous response to review the steps the AI assistant took.

-
Once the AI assistant's answer is ready, you can copy the answer or ask a follow-up question.
Use the thumbs up (
) and thumbs down () icons to give us feedback about whether the AI assistant has been helpful.Queue follow-up messages
You can submit follow-up messages while the AI assistant is still generating a response. Instead of waiting for the AI assistant to finish, type your next question and press Enter. The message is added to a queue and sent automatically after the AI assistant completes its current response.
Queued messages
Queued messages appear in Queued, along with the total count. Select Queued to collapse or expand the list.
Each queued message is numbered in the order it will be sent. After the AI assistant finishes a response, the next message in the queue is dispatched automatically. Queued messages persist within your current browser session, so they are preserved if you refresh the page.
Edit or delete queued messages
You can modify or remove queued messages before they are sent:
-
To edit a queued message, select the Edit icon (
) next to the message. The message text loads for editing. Press Enter or select Send to save your changes. Select Cancel to discard your changes and restore the original message. -
To delete a queued message, select the Delete icon (
) next to the message. The message is removed from the queue immediately.
Stop generation with queued messages
When you select Stop while the AI assistant is generating a response and there are queued messages, the AI assistant stops the current response and loads the next queued message as editable text. If you had unsent text, that text is added to the end of the queue so it is not lost. You can review or modify the message before sending it.
Clarifying questions
When the AI assistant needs additional context, the AI assistant may ask you one or more clarifying questions before responding.
Clarifying questions are only available in the console. If you use the AI assistant in Slack, the AI assistant asks follow-up questions as plain text messages instead.
Answering clarifying questions
Depending on the question, you can choose one or more options from the list.
An Other field is available on every question, allowing you to type a custom answer if none of the provided options apply.
To skip a question, select Skip this and the AI assistant proceeds. If there are remaining questions, the AI assistant advances to the next one.
When the AI assistant asks more than one question, the AI assistant shows your progress. Use Next to advance to the next question and Back to return to a previous question and change your answer.
When you have answered all questions (or reached the last question), select Submit to send your answers. The AI assistant uses your responses as additional context and continues generating an answer.

If you navigate away from the conversation while a clarifying question is active, the request is cancelled and the AI assistant continues without the additional context.
Viewing submitted answers
After you submit your answers, a summary card showing each question and the answers you selected appears in your conversation history. The summary is preserved in the conversation history.
