Understand PerfectScale for Commitments fees

PerfectScale for Commitments fees are a percentage of savings on customer-owned Compute and Database Savings Plans started after the account is onboarded for that commitment type. The percentage is defined in your DoiT contract.

How the fee is calculated

For each day of covered usage, DoiT calculates:

Fee = (on-demand cost − Savings Plan cost) × contracted charge percentage

Where:

• On-demand cost is covered usage priced at the AWS public on-demand rate for that SKU.
• Savings Plan cost is that same covered usage priced at the Savings Plan rate.
• Contracted charge percentage is the fee rate defined in your DoiT contract.

Compute and Database fees are billed as separate DoiT Charge line items (Perfectscale For Commitments - AWS Compute and Perfectscale For Commitments - AWS Database). Flexsave Savings Plans are excluded.

Note

The fee uses on-demand cost and Savings Plan cost from usage and rates. It does not use the Amortized Savings metric on Cloud Analytics report rows, which can differ.

Fee example

• Compute: If Savings Plan–covered usage saves $245.39 on EC2 and $36.84 on ECS in one day ($282.23 total), the Compute fee is $282.23 × your contracted percentage.

• Database: If Savings Plan–covered usage is 1,125.54 ACU-Hr at an on-demand rate of $0.12/ACU-Hr ($135.06) and a Savings Plan rate of $0.078/ACU-Hr ($87.79), savings are $47.27 and the Database fee is $47.27 × your contracted percentage.

To view fees in Cloud Analytics:

1. Filter or group by Provider = DoiT Charge.
2. Filter Service to PerfectScale for Commitments AWS.
3. To separate Compute and Database fees, filter or group by the system label doit/charge and include:
   • Perfectscale For Commitments - AWS Compute
   • Perfectscale For Commitments - AWS Database
