Preset allocations

DoiT provides the following preset allocations to help you get started.

Amazon Web Services

Single-rule

  • All AWS Resources: Resources allocated to AWS infrastructure & services. You can use this allocation to get a global view that incorporates all AWS resources costs in your bill.

    • Conditions: Provider is AWS Web Services
  • AWS RIs, SPs: AWS Reservations and Savings Plans upfront fees.

    • Conditions: Provider is AWS Web Services AND Cost Type is Fee OR RIFee OR SavingsPlanUpfrontFee
  • AWS Support: AWS Support upfront fees.

    • Conditions: Provider is AWS Web Services AND Service matches regular expression (?!)AWS Support
  • EKS Allocated Resources: Resources in Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters that are either requested by Kubernetes workloads or requested for system overhead. See also EKS Clusters Utilization.

    • Conditions: EKS pod_owner_name is not UNREQUESTED_COSTS AND Provider is Amazon Web Services
  • EKS Unallocated Resources: Resources in Amazon EKS clusters that are neither requested by Kubernetes workloads nor requested for system overhead. See also EKS Clusters Utilization.

    • Conditions: EKS pod_owner_name is UNREQUESTED_COSTS AND Provider is Amazon Web Services

Group

  • AWS EC2: Allocates data in accordance with AWS EC2 operations, including:

    • Compute: excluding data transfer
    • Storage: Amazon EBS
    • Networking: InterZone, Load Balancing-PublicIP, Public IP, and VPC Peering
  • AWS EC2 Compute: Allocates data in accordance with AWS EC2 compute, including:

    • Flexsave Covered: on-demand workloads covered by Flexsave
    • On Demand: excluding discounted usage, Spot usage, and data transfer
    • Reservations: cost type is Fee, DiscountedUsage, or RIFee; excluding data transfer
    • Spot: Spot usage, excluding data transfer
  • AWS EC2 Storage: Allocates data in accordance with AWS EC2 storage options, including:

  • AWS EC2 Data Transfer: Allocates data in accordance with AWS EC2 data transfer options, including the Ins and Outs of InterZone, Load Balancing, Public IP, and VPC Peering.

Google Cloud

Single-rule

  • All GCP Resources: Resources allocated to Google Cloud infrastructure & services. You can use this allocation to get a global view that incorporates all GCP resources costs in your bill.

    • Conditions: Provider is Google Cloud
  • GCP CUD Commitments: Purchased Google Cloud Committed Use Discounts (CUDs) across all machine types and regions.

    • Conditions: Provider is Google Cloud AND Service is Compute Engine (GCE) AND CUD Eligible is utilized commitment OR unutilized commitment
  • GCP Eligible for CUD: Google Cloud resources eligible for committed use discounts.

    • Conditions: Provider is Google Cloud AND Service is Compute Engine (GCE) AND CUD Eligible is true
  • GCP Network Egress: Outbound traffic from a network zone or a region.

    • Conditions: Service is Compute Engine (GCE) AND SKU matches regular expression (?i)Inter Zone Egress|Inter Region Egress|Internet Egress AND Provider is Google Cloud
  • GKE Allocated Resources: Resources in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) cluster that are either requested by Kubernetes workloads or requested for system overhead. See also GKE Clusters Utilization.

  • GKE Unallocated Resources: Resources in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) cluster that are neither requested by Kubernetes workloads nor requested for system overhead. See also GKE Clusters Utilization.

Group

  • BigQuery: Allocates data in accordance with Google Cloud BigQuery pricing models, including:

    • Storage: Active, Long term, Physical
    • Analysis: Flat rate, On demand, Autoscale, Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, Enterprise Plus Edition
    • BI Engine: Flat rate, On demand
    • BigQuery: Data Transfer Service, Streaming Insert
    • Storage API: Write, Read, Egress
    • Cross Cloud Transfer (Omni)
  • Google Cloud Storage: Allocates data in accordance with Google Cloud Storage pricing models, including:

    • Data storage: Standard, Nearline, Coldline, Archive, Tags
    • Data processing: Operations, Replication, Retrieval, Autoclass
    • Network: Download, CDN, GC-internal, Interconnect
  • Google Compute Engine: Allocates data in accordance with Google Cloud Compute Engine pricing models, including SKUs by DoiT if applicable.

Microsoft Azure (single-rule)

The preset allocations of Microsoft Azure are all single-rule allocations.

  • All Azure Resources: Resources allocated to Azure infrastructure & services. You can use this allocation to get a global view that incorporates all Azure resources costs in your bill.

    • Conditions: Provider is Microsoft Azure

Cloud analytics

  • Eligible service consumption: Eligible service consumption is defined as all the services excluding the following:

    • BeyondCorp Enterprise
    • Directions API
    • Distance Matrix API
    • Geocoding API
    • Google Maps Platform Rides and Deliveries Service
    • Maps API
    • Maps Elevation API
    • Maps Static API
    • Places API
    • Places API (New)
    • Street View Static API

Billing and invoicing (group)

The following group allocations can help you break down your invoices. See Understand your invoice with reports for their usage.

  • Invoice: This is a managed group allocation. Its allocation rules correspond to invoices issued to asset types Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Looker. It differs from other preset group allocations in that it uses customer-specific data and has a unique resource ID for each customer.

  • Invoice breakdown: Provides a breakdown of each invoice, dividing the costs into a few main cost categories, including:

    • Marketplace purchases: All your marketplace expenses.

    • Support: The support costs charged by your cloud providers.

    • Total on demand spend: The total spend outside of Marketplace and Support charges.

    • Total savings: The total amount of savings applied on the invoice.

  • Savings source: Provides a breakdown of savings on the invoice:

    • Credits: All the credits applied on the invoice.

    • Customer reservations: Savings generated by Committed Usage Discounts (Google Cloud), Reserved Instances (AWS), and Savings Plans (AWS).

    • Sustained Usage Discount: Savings generated by Sustained use discounts (Google Cloud).

    • Special discounts: AWS contractual discounts, including BundledDiscount, EdpDiscount, PrivateRateDiscount and SppDiscount.

    • Flexsave: Savings generated by Flexsave.

Cloud analytics

  • The group allocation Ramp plan eligible spend is defined by the Eligible service consumption rule. If the cloud services consumption included in Eligible service consumption doesn't match your needs, create a new group allocation. Then, create a ramp plan based on the new group allocation.
