Create attributions

Required Permissions: Cloud Analytics, Attributions Manager

Attributions are a way to group resources. The most important task when creating an attribution is to define its conditions.

You can choose any cloud billing dimensions for the conditions.

Create an attribution from scratch

To create a new attribution from scratch:

  1. Select Analytics from the top navigation bar, and then select Attributions.

  2. Select + New attribution in the upper-right corner on the Attributions screen.

    The Attributions screen.

  3. Enter a name for the new attribution.

You can also use the file icon at the rightmost end of the text field to provide a description for the attribution.

  4. Configure the conditions to define what falls under the Attribution.

    1. Select cloud billing dimensions from the drop-down list to define your new attribution.

You can further filter the dimension values by keyword, exclusion, and regular expression.

You should not set multiple separate conditions with the same dimension values. If necessary, use exclusions to filter the dimension values.

    2. When adding multiple dimensions in an attribution, specify whether "ALL" or "ANY" of the conditions must be met.

  5. Once you set a condition, a preview chart will appear showing the costs identified by the attribution in the last 30 days.

    • The chart reloads automatically each time you add, remove, or modify a condition.

    • You can switch between the Stacked Column view and the Table view.

    • You can download the Stacked Column view as a PNG image or a PDF document using the the hamburger menu (three bars icon) in the upper-right corner of the chart.

Clone an existing attribution

You can build an attribution based on an existing one, either a preset attribution or a custom attribution created by others.

To make a copy of an existing attribution:

  1. Open the attribution page.

  2. select the copy file icon next to the attribution name.

    Attribution preview.

Delete an attribution

You can't delete an attribution that is in use by another component in the DoiT Platform, including reports, alerts, budgets, metrics, organizations, or daily digests.

You can delete an attribution only if you are its owner.

To delete an individual attribution:

  1. Navigate to the main Attributions screen.

  2. Locate the attribution of interest.

  3. Select the three dots menu () at the rightmost end of the attribution entry.

  4. Select Delete attribution.

To delete multiple attributions at once:

  1. Select the checkbox of each attribution that you want to delete.

You can filter attributions by their properties.

  2. If you have Owner access to all of the selected attributions, you can use the Delete button next to the Filter to perform a batch delete.

You'll be asked to confirm the deletion before it's executed.
