Create a custom role

To connect Datadog with DoiT, you must first create a custom role in Datadog for DoiT and assign it the appropriate permissions.

  1. Sign in to the Datadog site.

  2. Go to your Organization Settings.

  3. Select Roles.

  4. If you have not already done so, enable the creation of custom roles.

  5. Select + New Role and enter a name that fits the usage, for example, DoiT Connector Role.

  6. Select the checkboxes next to the Billing Read and Usage Read permissions to enable them for the role. These missions give the role access to the Cost Summary and Cost Chargebacks data.

  7. (Optional) Grant the following authorization scopes to allow DoiT to analyze your Datadog data:

    • hosts_read: Grants permissions to list Datadog hosts and their attributes. See also Datadog host costs.

    • dashboards_read: Grants permissions to view Datadog dashboards. See also Top dashboards.

  8. (Optional) Tag reports are generated through the Usage Attribution feature. (Usage attribution is only available to Datadog Enterprise customers.) Tag reports provide detailed insights into resource usage and associated costs, organized by tags. You must enable resource tagging in the Datadog console.

    To enable tag reports:

    1. From the Datadog console, select your username to open your account.

    2. Select Plan & Usage.

    3. Select the Usage Attribution tab.

    4. Select Enable Reporting.

  9. Go to the DoiT console and select the Confirm creation of the role checkbox.

  10. Select Next to move to the next step.
