Team setup

Team setup is the first phase of the AWS MSP partner certification journey.

Required permission

  • Workspace admin

Launch the wizard

To launch the team setup wizard:

  1. In the DoiT console, navigate to the MSP Workspace.

  2. Select Start with team setup.

Step 1: Workspace profile

The workspace profile contains basic information of your organization.

  • Organization name: Your organization's legal or trading name.

  • Primary AWS region: The AWS region where most of your managed workloads run.

  • Target submission date: Your target date for submitting the evidence packet. The platform works backwards from this date to suggest due dates for individual tasks.

  • Account model: The AWS account model that describes how you manage customer infrastructure. This option determines which AWS APIs the platform can use for automated evidence collection.

Available models: Partner-owed, ECAM, Advisory, Hybrid.

Select Save and continue to proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Invite your team

Add team members who will participate in the audit.

Options:

  • Select Bulk invite to invite one or more users.

  • Use the toggle in the Admin column to grant or revoke workspace admin access.

  • Select the kebab menu () at the rightmost end of the entry and select the relevant action to resend an invitation or remove a member.

  • If an invite email fails to deliver, the roster row displays an invite failed label beneath the member's name. Select Delete user on the label to remove the entry and retry the invitation.

See Team for more information.

Step 3: Assign owners

Assign RACI roles to define who owns, approves, contributes to, and is informed about for the following domains: Business, People, Governance, Platform, Security, and Operations.

The same person can hold different roles across different domains.

RACI roles:

  • Section owner: Drives evidence collection for the domain. Mandatory; each domain has only one section owner.

  • Approvers: Review artifacts and sign off on completed controls. Mandatory; at least one per domain.

  • Contributors: Help with evidence tasks. Optional; multiple allowed.

  • Informed: Receive notifications about domain progress. Optional; multiple allowed.

Step 4: Confirm audit scope

The last step is to review and confirm the audit scope before creating your workspace.

MSP Workspace team setup - Confirm scope

  • VCL version: The active VCL version and the number of controls and evidence tasks it contains.

  • Phase 1 (Prerequisites) target: Your target completion date for the prerequisite controls.

  • Phase 2 (Technical Validation) target: Your target completion date for the technical validation phase.

The summary panel shows what the platform creates when you finalize setup:

  • Prerequisite controls across all VCL domains

  • Evidence tasks auto-assigned to section owners

  • A notification matrix based on your RACI assignments

  • An empty artifact library ready for uploads

What's next

After you complete team setup, your workspace is seeded with the controls and evidence tasks for the remaining certification phases.

You can update the team members and domain assignments from the Team and RACI page.
