Commitment Manager and Reports
Commitment Manager is a dedicated solution for tracking contractual commitment structures and conditions. When using Cloud Analytics reports alongside the Commitment Manager, be aware of the following:
-
Data scope: Commitment Manager shows only the portion of spending eligible for a commitment, while reports reflect your actual spending.
-
Period end date: To avoid duplication, the data of the last day of a commitment period appears in the next period instead of the current one. When running a report to check the cost of a given period, make sure to exclude the last day.
For example, if the commitment period runs from January 1, 2024 to January 1, 2025, then the report time range should be from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024. The data for January 1, 2025 will appear in the next commitment period, which starts on January 1, 2025.
-
Flexsave spend: Flexsave spend in Cloud Analytics is based on AWS 1-year discount rates (the rates DoiT delivers to Flexsave customers), while in Commitment Manager it is based on the 3-year rates (the rates AWS charges DoiT). This means that if Flexsave for Compute has been activated, your spend in reports is likely to be higher than the eligible spend in the Commitment Manager, and potential shortfalls might go unnoticed if you rely solely on reports.
