Access insights

Insights are listed on the main Insights screen, where you can take a quick overview of the feature, identify insights of interest, and go to the details page of a specific insight.

Required permission

  • To access the Insights feature, your DoiT account needs the Insights Manager permission.

  • To access different insights, you must meet the relevant conditions listed in Feature availability.

View all insights

To view all the insights, sign in to the DoiT console, select Optimize from the top navigation bar, and then select Insights.

The Insights page

  • You can select Show summary for an overview of the critical numbers (or select Hide summary to collapse it).

  • You can sort insights by priority or by value (potential savings).

  • Insights are presented as summary cards, which provide basic information such as insight category, provider, status, priority, tag, and the highlight. You can select a summary card to open the insight details page and take actions such as creating a Jira issue, contacting DoiT expert team, or when applicable, opening a Cloud Analytics report for further investigation.

  • The search bar and filters allows you to quickly find insights of interest.

Insights coverage

As explained in Feature availability, DoiT Insights leverages multiple external recommendation systems to generate automated insights. These insights may require specific plans or additional configurations.

Insights coverage indicates the extent to which your eligible accounts—those connected to DoiT and meeting the providers' requirements—have enabled the relevant features in the DoiT console. Select See what you are missing for detailed information.

Insights coverage

To increase the insights coverage, select Go to PROVIDER settings and grant the required permissions (see also Link AWS account, Connect Google Cloud resources, and Enable Azure Advisor insights).

Insights status

An insight can have one of the following statuses:

  • Actionable: The insight's recommendations can be readily acted upon.

  • Acknowledged: The insight has been evaluated, and the impact acknowledged.

  • In progress: Implementation of the insight's recommendations is ongoing. For example, a Jira issue or a CloudFlow has been created.

  • Permission needed: This status applies to automated insights that need additional configurations or subscriptions based on Feature availability. It is automatically assigned by the system and cannot be manually updated.

  • Optimized: Issues identified by the insight have been addressed or no longer exist. Automated FinOps insights may also be automatically assigned this status if they offer estimated savings of less than US$ 1 per day.

  • Dismissed: The insight is considered irrelevant and can be safely ignored.

An insight's status may be automatically applied or manually adjusted. See Change insight status for more information.

Filter insights

You can filter insights using one or several of the following criteria:

  • Status: Filter by insights status.

  • Priority: Filter by the priority as determined by the DoiT expert team: High, Medium, or Low.

  • Category: Filter by insights category.

  • Provider: Filter by data provider of the insights: AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or Snowflake.

  • Tags: Filter by tags added by the DoiT expert team.

  • Additional options: Filter by specific conditions:

    • Easy win: Easy win insights are optimization recommendations identified by the DoiT expert team as low-risk, low-complexity, and always with zero downtime.

    • With CloudFlow: Insights with which you can build a CloudFlow to implement the recommendations.
