Invoice explainer

The Invoice explainer is only available if you have a dedicated payer account.

When you partner with DoiT, the DoiT invoice sent to you often differs from the invoice AWS sends to us on your behalf. The different layouts and pricing structures between the two often lead to confusion.

Our Invoice explainer helps you understand AWS' invoice to DoiT, compared to DoiT's invoice to you clearly, and focusing on key elements such as usage, Savings Plans, support costs, and discounts. In other words, you can compare your usage and services costs with DoiT, to what DoiT is charged by AWS according to your usage.

You can use the Invoice explainer for your AWS invoices. However, the explainer won't be available if your AWS invoice has needed manual adjustments after being issued.

Invoice bucketing

If you use invoice bucketing and Flexsave, Flexsave AWS charges are assigned to your default bucket.

Benefits of using the Invoice explainer

• Detailed breakdown: It provides a detailed breakdown of your costs for a given invoice. This can help you understand where your costs are coming from and how they are distributed across different resources.

• Invoice comparison: You can compare, in one single place, what AWS charges DoiT for your usage as a cloud reseller, and what DoiT charges you.

• Charges by service: To dig deeper into your invoice, you can see the cost for each of the services you've used in AWS. In addition, when there's a difference in the cost of a service between AWS and DoiT, you can see what caused it: Flexsave, EDP, etc.

• Charges by account: You can see all the AWS service costs for each of your AWS accounts. In addition, when there's a difference in the cost of a service within an account between AWS and DoiT, you can see what caused it: Flexsave, EDP, etc.

Use the Invoice explainer

All the numbers in the Invoice explainer are displayed in US Dollars (USD).

To use the Invoice explainer:

1. Log in to the DoiT console, select Billing from the top navigation bar, and then select Invoices.

2. Select an AWS invoice you want to dig depeer into, and in the Invoice Details page, select Understand this invoice.

3. Once the Invoice explainer opens, you can compare what you're billed for in each provider.

   Note

   AWS has a different rounding system than DoiT, so numbers can be a few cents out.

4. If there's an item you're not familiar with, hover over it to read a short description.

   AWS Marketplace charges

   If you get a separate invoice for your AWS Marketplace purchases, you won't see a separate item in the explainer. The marketplace charges are included in their corresponding line items, such as credits, usage, or fees.

5. Use the Change currency dropdown to convert the charges to your own currency.

Understand your charges by service

To understand what services are causing a difference between your AWS and DoiT invoice:

1. Log in to the DoiT Console, select Billing from the top navigation bar, and then select Invoices.

2. Select an AWS invoice you want to dig depeer into, and in the Invoice Details page, select Understand this invoice, and then, Charges by service.

3. Use the filters to learn more about your monthly costs:

   • Filter: Search for a specific service such as Amazon CloudFront or Elastic Load Balancing.

   • Reasons for difference: Check what services are affected by a specific reason such as Flexsave or Savings Plans. To learn more about these items, read about DoiT and AWS invoice differences.

4. Expand a specific service to see what reasons are causing the difference in price between AWS and DoiT.

   If there's an item you're not familiar with, hover over it to read a short description.

   

5. Use the Change currency dropdown to convert the charges from USD to your own currency.

Understand your charges by account

To see in which accounts there's a difference between your AWS and DoiT invoice:

1. Log in to the DoiT Console, select Billing from the top navigation bar, and then select Invoices.

2. Select an AWS invoice you want to dig depeer into, and in the Invoice Details page, select Understand this invoice, and then, Charges by account.

3. Use the filters to learn more about your monthly costs:

   • Filter: Search for a specific account by name or ID.

   • Reasons for difference: Check what services are affected by a specific reason such as Flexsave or Savings Plans. To learn more about these items, read about DoiT and AWS invoice differences.
