(!) Flexsave for Google Cloud Sunset FAQ

Why is DoiT no longer offering Flexsave?

Google changed their Terms of Use for Committed Use Discounts (CUDs) in May 2023. Because Flexsave relies on CUDs to provide discounts, DoiT was obligated to follow the new terms. The new rules prohibit the transfer of CUDs between customers, making Flexsave no longer viable as a service to provide to our customers.

What will I see during the August 16 time frame?

During the week of August 1, 2023, we will begin to remove Flexsave CUDs from customer accounts. You will receive savings as long as CUDs remain in your account.

By August 6, all Flexsave CUDs will be removed and those covered workloads will revert to on-demand pricing where applicable.

What happens to my workloads when Flexsave shuts down?

There will be no impact or interruption to the operations of your workloads as DoiT removes Flexsave coverage. You will be charged the on-demand rate for the workloads formerly covered by Flexsave.

Will this impact the CUDs/FlexCUDs that I have purchased?

DoiT will only be removing Flexsave CUDs during this process. There will be no change or impact to the commitments you have made directly with Google.

Can I purchase CUDs or FlexCUDs to avoid a gap in savings?

Yes. You are free to purchase CUDs or FlexCUDs to replace Flexsave coverage, at any time.

If you need assistance with determining a coverage plan, please contact our Customer Reliability Engineering team or your DoiT account manager and we will work with you on designing a new coverage plan.
