Product Description

PerfectScale is a Kubernetes optimization and reliability platform designed to help technical teams improve cluster performance and reduce risks or costs through workload insights, tailored recommendations, and automated actions.

PerfectScale analyzes cluster configuration, workload specifications, and operational telemetry to identify inefficiencies, reliability risks, and optimization opportunities, and provides recommendations and controls via a user interface and API.

PerfectScale is available in two delivery models:

  • PerfectScale SaaS Offer

  • PerfectScale Self-Hosted Offer

Each delivery model offers similar optimization and recommendation features but differs in hosting, operational responsibilities, and data location, guiding users on their deployment choices.

Delivery Models

SaaS

  • Multi-tenant SaaS platform hosted and operated by PerfectScale

  • Software control plane runs in a PerfectScale-managed cloud environment

  • Cluster agents deployed by the customer connect Kubernetes clusters to the service

  • Access provided via web UI and API

  • Platform updates delivered via continuous deployment

  • Agent updates are publicly available (new feature coming soon: "agents auto-upgrade")

Self-Hosted

  • Customer-hosted deployment in a customer-controlled environment

  • Software control plane runs inside the customer infrastructure

  • Cluster agents deployed by the customer connect Kubernetes clusters to the self-hosted service

  • Customer is responsible for the platform infrastructure and uptime

  • Access provided via web UI and API

  • Updates delivered as versioned release packages. The customer is responsible for applying updates and patches.

Core Capabilities (Both Offers)

The following functional capabilities are included in both SaaS and Self-Hosted offers:

  • Optimization engine

  • Resource and workload optimization recommendations

  • Insight and analytics dashboards

  • Optimization and reliability insights

  • API access (subject to exposure and configuration)

  • Optional automated actions were enabled and supported

  • Kubernetes cluster analysis and optimization scoring

  • Cost reporting

Optimization & Automated Actions

PerfectScale provides:

  • Automated optimization insights

  • Configuration recommendations

  • Optional if enabled: Automated actions may adjust supported Kubernetes workload configuration parameters in accordance with platform rules, recommendations, and the customer's settings.

Data Processing & Location

SaaS

  • Data processed in a PerfectScale-managed environment

  • Data storage location: PerfectScale-managed infrastructure

  • Backups managed by PerfectScale per policy

Self-Hosted

  • Data processed in the customer environment

  • Data storage location: customer-managed infrastructure

  • The customer is responsible for backup and retention

Platform Operations Responsibility

SaaS

  • Platform uptime: PerfectScale's responsibility

  • Monitoring: PerfectScale's responsibility

  • Platform patching: automatic by PerfectScale

  • Agent patching: customer responsibility

Self-Hosted

  • Platform uptime: customer responsibility

  • Monitoring: customer responsibility

  • Patch application: customer responsibility

  • Infrastructure security: customer responsibility

Customer Responsibilities

Depending on the offer type, customer responsibilities include:

SaaS

  • Maintain cluster agents

  • Configure/enable automation

  • Maintain integrations (shared responsibility)

Self-Hosted

  • Maintain hosting infrastructure

  • Apply security patches

  • Apply platform updates

  • Configure/enable automation

  • Maintain integrations

  • Manage backups

  • Maintain environmental security

Usage & Commercial Limits

Commercial usage limits are defined in the Order Form and/or License Terms, including:

  • Service Plan type: Advanced vs Expert Vs Enterprise

  • Service Capacity: Up to how many monthly vCPU ("cores") incurred by the Customer the Service is licensed for. Above this capacity, a True-Up process will be initiated by a DoiT employee to collect the delta capacity.

The customer will be notified of such over-subscribed services both in the platform UI and via a notification from their Customer Success Manager or another DoiT team member.

Data & Security Boundary Statements

  • Customer retains ownership of all customer data

  • See PerfectScale data collected for a list of the needed telemetry

  • Security controls:

    • SaaS - PerfectScale security program

    • Self-Hosted - customer security controls

Versioning, Plans & Change Policy

SaaS Version

  • Continuous delivery model

  • Automatic updates

  • Compatibility maintained on a commercially reasonable basis

  • Four Plans are available in the SaaS version:

    • Expert: Includes all the product's functionality, as well as Implementation Assistance, a dedicated Customer Success Manager, Direct Support and SLAs.

    • Enterprise: A bundle that includes the PerfectScale Expert plan and DCI Enterprise.

    • Advanced: Limited functionality as described at www.perfectscale.io/pricing. No Implementation Assistance, No Customer Success Manager. Does include Direct Support and SLAs.

    • Community: Free for as long as the customer's total vCPU consumption is below 300 per month. Limited functionality as described at www.perfectscale.io/pricing. No Implementation Assistance, No Customer Success Manager. No Direct Support or SLAs.

Self-Hosted Version

  • Versioned releases

  • Customer upgrade responsibility

  • Feature deprecation notice via release notes

  • Only the Expert plan, which includes all the product's functionality, is available in the Self-Hosted Version.

Dependencies

Support depends on:

  • Supported Kubernetes versions

  • Supported cloud providers

  • Required cluster connectivity

  • Supported observability integrations
